Police in Plymouth used new powers to close one of the city's main nightclubs on Saturday night.
Up to 140 officers were involved in a raid on the Dance Academy on the city's Union Street.
It follows a five-month operation which officers say showed class A drugs are being used and dealt there.
About 200 club goers were asked to leave while evidence was gathered. A hearing on Monday will decide if the club will be closed for three months.
'Other operations'
A 35-year-old man from Honiton was arrested on suspicion permitting the supply of a class A drug on the premises and a 33-year old man from the Whitleigh area of Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of a similar offence.
New legislation under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act has given police powers to shut down licensed premises where class A drugs are being used or supplied and serious disorder or nuisance is being caused.
Chief Supt Morris Watts, from Devon and Cornwall Police, said closure orders "were not taken lightly".
"But where there is evidence of drug use and disorder, we will deal with such premises robustly," he said.
"It is likely there will be other operations like this run across the force in the coming months if the evidence warrants it."

Closing Dance Academy was a devestating moment.
I was dancing on the podium when the club was raided and I've never experienced anything so aweful and upsetting in my life. Watching the club fall silent, the lights come on and our club being taken from us.
Alot of love and passion went into that club. I know I and alot of other people have loads of good memories of the place and spend alot of good times there.
DAnce Academy was not just a club, it was a way of life.
Everyone is now focusing their energy and doing all they can to save the club.
