Rob Tissera Profile

Rob Tissera and his honest devotion to dance music has seen him achieve more than most in a career that has jammed in radio shows for Kiss 100 and Galaxy , five Top 40 hits, gigs at every major club in Ibiza plus his trademark grin and enthusiasm that has been seen at so many major clubs and festivals across club land.

While some people are prepared to merely sit back and let music be the soundtrack to their lives, others have to get right inside it, and that fascination in mixing and meddling with music has become the essence of Rob's life. At 13 he was playing bass guitar, at 15 he was in a band and at 16 he was on the point of being signed to Polydor, but was soon turned on to his disco destiny by the early M25 raves, where he discovered what he had to offer the global dance floor.

A chance visit to Manchester also led to a night in Hacienda - that was enough to persuade Rob to move North, quickly finding his way to the early Blackburn raves. Unlike the well-organised parties of the South, these 'acid-house' parties were more earthy and rammed wall-to-wall with energy. It was these experiences that steered Rob into the realm of pirate radio and upwards into his eventual career as a full professional DJ.

The clubbers at the likes of the original superclubs Cream, Slinky, Ministry of Sound and Clockwork Orange have all danced the night away to Rob's unique sets, blending the deep hard and pumping with trance that has earned him legendary status as resident of Sundissential . Meanwhile, the new guard of clubs keep banging on the doors of Tissera Towers for regular appearances, including some of the very best from the scene such as Frantic, Good Greef and Garlands . His alter ego meanwhile pushes the downright funky and sexy house that has led him to co-promote the increasingly popular Funkissential .

The festival circuit embraces Rob with annual sets at the likes of Creamfields, Godskitchen's Global Gathering and Homelands . Though Rob's sound has been heard and appreciated far beyond the shores of Britain with a catalogue of countries including New Zealand, Canada, Czech Republic, Singapore, USA and no less than eight Australian tours to date.

Rob's DJ success led to his six-month stint on Kiss 100 before another 18 months presenting on Galaxy in Manchester and Leeds , whilst coinciding with phenomenal success as a producer. In 1997, his track ' Kick up the Volume' on XL Recordings sailed in to the UK Top 40 . He followed that success teaming up with Ian Bland to form ' Quake '. Their first single ' The Day Will Come' again hit the Top 40 and they followed up with the ' Mantra EP' , with all three tracks commissioned for the hit flick ' Human Traffic' . In 2000, Quake's outstanding remix of ' York - The Awakening' transformed the tune in to the National Top 10 hit and remixes of ' Fridge - Angel' and ' Armin - Communication' both sailed into the Top 20 . 2001 and Rob took under a different guise as ' Native ', his first release ' Feel the Drums' sailing into the UK Top 40. Rob finally recorded under his own name in 2002, with club stormer ' Burning' being whipped up by popular dance label, Y2K .

Rob has moved and shaked throughout 2003. Funkissential has already been acclaimed as one of the best new nights in clubland to cause a stir this year and the summer saw Rob signed up by Ibiza's most popular club promoters ' Garlands ' to perform as their weekly resident. This combined with his compilation debut on Nukleuz with Ed Real 'Hard House Anthems 4' and his latest track with BK 'Zulu Nation' , has made 2003 one of Rob's favourite years. With Ibiza season over, Rob re-launches Funkissential for the winter months and concentrates on the new demands for him brought on by his signing to the genre's very best roster of talent at Nukleuz .

Will Patterson of Nukleuz commented, "Nukleuz are thrilled to sign up Rob Tissera as the latest recruit to their world beating roster of 21st Century Dance artists! Rob's skills, drive and all round passion for dance music have earned him legendary status and we believe strongly that 2004 will see Rob smash his way into the big time with a bang!"
